Leadership Academy between youth of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan organized in Osh

Osh, April 11, 2022. / Kabar /. The Leadership Academy was organized in Osh city to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation between the youth of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan from April 7 to 10.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Mayor of Osh Jasur Azimov, representatives of the State Agency for Local Self Government and Interethnic Relations, the Committee on Youth Affairs of the Mayor’s Office of Osh, representatives of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports, the National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan, the Association of Volunteers of Uzbekistan, civil society of both states, as well as young activists of the YoshSan and JashStan projects.

As part of the three-day training of the Leadership Academy, the participants discussed the concept of the youth policy of the two countries, the importance of women's leadership, took part in a master class on social networks from bloggers and an interactive session on health, sports, emotional intelligence, exchanged experience on peacebuilding, civic activation in their communities , and also initiated a volunteer campaign for the effective interaction of the youth of the two countries with local authorities, strengthening friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The Leadership Academy is the final event of the 24-month YoshSan project in Uzbekistan on the topic “Involving youth in decision-making at the local level”, the purpose of which was to strengthen cooperation between youth civil society organizations and local authorities. Similarly, in 2017-2020, the youth empowerment project “JashStan” was implemented with the support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund to support at-risk youth in conflict communities as active leaders and peacekeepers throughout Kyrgyzstan.
