Bishkek, Oct.9, 2019 /Kabar/. “Life without violence” caravan will be held on Oct. 10-21 in seven oblasts of Kyrgyzstan.
This caravan is a series of speeches of women leaders from different spheres in the style of TED'x talks and flash mobs, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
The events promote gender and conflict-sensitive communication, media literacy to prevent violence and radicalization, as well as the strengthening of positive discourse on the development of the country, the need for peacebuilding, using the example of local community leaders who are already contributing.
More than 500 people will take part in the events all over the country - civil servants, students, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations dealing with gender equality, youth policy, mass media.
Speakers will share their personal stories about peacebuilding, gender equality, media literacy and leadership.
The caravan is organized by PIL Research Company and Data Lab with the support of UN Women and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the “Inclusive Governance and Justice System for Preventing Violent Extremism" project jointly with UNDP, UNCHR and UNICEF, funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund.
The project is aimed at providing support to Kyrgyzstan’s Government on prevention of violent extremism within the framework of the National Program on counteraction to extremism and terrorism for 2017-2022.
The project assists in raising the level of media literacy and gender sensitivity of journalists, teachers, youth and women to develop communication tools and messages that prevent radicalization and violent extremism. These projects are being implemented in 11 target municipalities in all regions of the country, including Bishkek and Osh.
