Kyrgyz literary encyclopedia in 7 volumes presented in Bishkek

Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. The Adibiyat Encyclopediasy (Kyrgyz: Адабият энциклопедиясы, lit.: literary encyclopedia) in 7 volumes was presented during a press conference at the Kabar News Agency in Bishkek.

Author, Professor at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) named after Boris Yeltsin Attokur Japanov told that the book “Adibiyat Encyclopediasy” had been written in one year.

He said that colleagues from the scientific world recognized the book as the most popular science book of 2018.

“For this book, I have received the Honorary Certificate of the National Academy of Sciences, and the university administration awarded me the medal of the 25th anniversary of the university for contribution to the development of the KRSU. This is 172nd book I have written,” Japanov noted.

The author said that the encyclopedia provides information about the world and domestic writers in the Kyrgyz language in alphabetical order. The book also contains literary terms translated into Kyrgyz. Information about writers and photographs are taken from open sources. “In addition, I tried to make the encyclopedia readable for schoolchildren and add illustrations and photographs to the information so that it would be interesting for children to read and learn literature. The book is also a handbook for teachers,” he added.

The book, according to Japanov, has been published in 20 sets so far. Each volume costs 500 soms, a set – 3 thousand 500 soms.
