Local councils elections. Kyrgyzstan observes day of silence

Bishkek, Nov. 16, 2024 . / Kabar / . The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan reminds that the ban on election campaigning comes into force starting from today Nov. 16 8:00 a.m.

This period, known as the "day of silence", lasts 24 hours before the start of voting and is provided for by the Law "On the Election of Deputies of Local Councils".

According to the legislation, the election campaign starts from the day of completion of registration of all candidates and their lists, and ends one day before the voting day. The main purpose of the "day of silence" is to provide voters with an opportunity to calmly consider their choice without external influence.

On this day, political parties and candidates are prohibited:

-campaign for or against any candidate or party;

-discuss election programs;

-to place new campaign materials.

Any campaign activities in mass media and on the Internet are also prohibited.

The violation of the rules of the "day of silence" is subject to measures in accordance with the norms of the legislation. This applies to political parties and candidates, their representatives, mass media, online publications and all participants of the electoral process.

Meanwhile. the "day of silence" does not apply to the information activities of election commissions.
