Bishkek, Dec. 16, 2020. /Kabar/. Acting President of Kyrgyzstan, Speaker of the Parliament Talant Mamytov chaired on Tuesday the first meeting of the Council on Migration, Compatriots and Diasporas abroad.
It was composed of Kyrgyz MPs, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Elvira Surabaldiyeva and heads of state bodies.
Opening the meeting, the speaker noted the Council was created primarily to strengthen the connection between compatriots and the Jogorku Kenesh and other state bodies. The Council is also intended to be a platform for discussion of initiatives with international partners of Kyrgyzstan and civil society.
"As a legislative body, the Jogorku Kenesh should contribute to the development and implementation of qualitatively new tools for regulating migration processes aimed, among other things, at expanding the international treaty base, preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration," said Mamytov.
The Council discussed the urgent problems of compatriots abroad, including resumption of regular flights with Russia, the situation with the permits for the departure and return of Kyrgyz citizens, and the issues of compensation for the transportation of the bodies of Kyrgyz citizens who died abroad.
As a result of the meeting, Speaker Mamytov instructed to strengthen work to remove Kyrgyz citizens from the list of persons banned to enter the Russian Federation, to intensify negotiations with the Russian side to increase the number of regular flights and to conduct a broad explanatory work among the population on the order of departure to the Russian Federation.
In addition, it was decided to instruct the Secretariat to develop the Council's work plan for 2021 and to ensure effective interaction of the Council with state and municipal authorities, international organizations and civil society.
