Maripov and Mishustin discuss bilateral cooperation issues

Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2021 . / Kabar / . Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers Ulukbek Maripov met with Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin.

The meeting took place on the margins of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council which is being held in Cholpon-Ata town of Issyk-Kul Oblast.

The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that the sides exchanged views on promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including the development of the Kyrgyz-Russian trade and economic cooperation in such areas as energy, transport and industry.

Ulukbek Maripov and Mikhail Mishustin noted the importance of implementation of joint projects and emphasized with satisfaction the gradual recovery of economic activity and positive dynamics in trade between the countries.

"We are ready for active joint work, with a focus on further increase in bilateral trade turnover, which in January-June of this year amounted to USD 1 billion 5.5 million and increased by 28.5% compared to the same period last year," said Maripov.

During the talks, the sides also discussed the results of the Cross Year of Kyrgyzstan and Russia and further cooperation in the framework of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed hope that further joint activities of trade and economic orientation in the framework of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund will lead to increased Russian investment in Kyrgyzstan.

In turn, Mikhail Mishustin noted the Russian side is interested in the progressive development of relations between the two countries, and despite the limitations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it was possible to organize all the activities planned in the framework of the Cross Year.

The chairman of the Government of Russia emphasized the great importance of the official status of the Russian language in the republic, which, in his opinion, has a positive impact on interethnic and interfaith harmony.
