Bishkek, July 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov received on Thursday Ambassador of the republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan Lee Won-jae.
Maripov noted the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to relations of friendship and expansion of cooperation with the Republic of Korea.
He emphasized the existing potential and prospects in the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. In particular, the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted with satisfaction that representatives of business circles from the Republic of Korea and show interest in investing in the domestic economy began more actively visit the republic.
Ulukbek Maripov welcomed the decision of Korea Telecom to implement projects in the republic, and expressed the willingness of the Kyrgyz side to provide all possible assistance in the development of Korean business.
He asked for assistance in increasing educational quotas for Kyrgyz citizens in leading Korean universities, as well as addressing issues related to the entry of our citizens in the Republic of Korea.
In turn, Lee Won-jae noted the great potential existing between the countries for further development and deepening cooperation in investment, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The ambassador noted that inclusion of the republic in the list of priority countries to receive Official Development Assistance for the next five years, as well as the opening in Kyrgyzstan of the Korean Center of the Program for International Agriculture (KOPIA) for the implementation of agricultural projects will contribute to further promoting and expanding bilateral cooperation.
The sides also discussed issues of holding the next meeting of the Kyrgyz-Korean intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation this year, the opening of air links between the cities of Bishkek and Seoul, as well as topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
