Mayor of Bishkek meets with famous chess player Anatoly Karpov

Bishkek, March 25 / Kabar /. Mayor of Bishkek Albek Ibraimov, met with visiting twelfth world chess champion, Soviet and Russian chess player, international grandmaster, honored master of sports of the USSR Anatoly Karpov, the press service of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office reports.

Anatoly Karpov arrived in Bishkek on March 25 at the invitation of the Chess Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic and as an honored guest to take part in the ceremony of awarding the winners of the traditional tournament for the President's Cup. The purpose of the visit is the development and popularization of chess in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting was also attended by the deputy of the Bishkek city kenesh Almaz Kenenbaev, president of the Chess Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Milan Turpanov and representatives of this federation.
