Bishkek, Oct.4, 2019. /Kabar/. The incidence of measles in Kyrgyzstan is decreasing, Kabar News Agency has learnt from Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulbara Ishenapysova.
According to her data, measles was first registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2017, when children of migrants from Russia were infected.
“In 2018, there was a growth in Kyrgyzstan, as in all European countries. 1005 cases were registered in the country. In particular, 50% of non-vaccinated children (under 1 year old) fell ill, 20% of refusals,” she said, and explained the vaccination against measles is carried out at the age of 1 year and 6 years.
Director Ishenapysova noted over the first 6 months of 2019 there was an increase in the incidence of diseases in more than 2 thousand cases.
“But later, because of the anti-epidemic measures taken, it was possible to reduce the figures. 2160 cases have been registered following the results of 9 months,” she said, and added that only 1 case has been registered so far.
Gulbara Ishenapysova added by mid-October, 100 thousand monovalent vaccines will be delivered from Russia to Kyrgyzstan to vaccinate all those who have not received vaccinations for various reasons.
