Dushanbe, Feb.1, 2018 / Kabar /. A meeting of Presidents of Kyrgyzstan SooronbayJeenbekov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was held in a narrow format in Dushanbe.
The Tajik leader greeted his colleague from Kyrgyzstan and stressed that his official visit to his republic is a very important event in the cooperation of two countries.
"We attribute great importance to your first official visit to our country. Kyrgyzstan is our close neighbor. Our countries cooperate on many issues of bilateral and regional character," Rahmon said.
The President of Tajikistan expressed his confidence that by joint efforts the cooperation of the two countries will soon rise to a higher level of development.
Jeenbekov thanked his colleague for his invitation to visit Tajikistan for an official visit and expressed gratitude for such a warm welcome.
"I take this opportunity once again to thank you for your warm wishes and congratulations on the occasion of my election as the President of Kyrgyzstan. I am very glad that this year on Jan. 14 our cooperation turns 25 years old. For the years of independence we have passed through many difficulties. We stood on the verge of losing our sovereignty. Thanks to the courage of the people, we have managed to preserve our statehood,"Jeenbekov said.
He stressed that his visit to Tajikistan means that Kyrgyzstan is ready for further cooperation, development and deepening of friendly relations.
"I am confident that today's meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss key issues that exist between our countries. Our meeting will give a new impulse to further development," the Kyrgyz President added.
At the first meeting of the Heads of States, the Kyrgyz delegation was attended by Foreign Minister, ErlanAbdyldaev, the Head of Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Office, AizadaSubakozhoev and the special representative of the Government of Kyrgyzstan on Border Issues, KurbanbayIskandarov.
Further meeting of the Presidents was continued in an expanded format.
