Bishkek, Nov.13, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev held a bilateral meeting with Vice President of the Republic of Angola Esperanza Maria Eduardo.
The meeting took place in Azerbaijan’s Baku on the margins of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press service said.
During the meeting the parties expressed interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation on all topical issues of mutual interest.
Minister Kulubaev requested to support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. He also asked Angola to support the Kyrgyz Republic's obtaining observer status in the African Union.
Following the meeting, an official ceremony was held to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of External Relations of Angola on the establishment of a mechanism for political consultations.
The document was signed by Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola Esmiralda Mendonsa. This was an important step in strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation between the countries, which will also contribute to the creation and development of a regular mechanism for consultations on topical issues on the international agenda, exchange of views on the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.
