Bishkek, Sept. 26, 2018. /Kabar/. The 19th meeting of the Commission of the CIS Member-States on Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy took place in Bishkek. This meeting is aimed at coordinating the efforts of the Commonwealth states in implementing the agreement on the basic principles of cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
The event was attended by authorized representatives of the CIS member-states: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan. Armenia, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.
The Commission was established in accordance with the Decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS of January 17, 1997 on the Prospective Plan for the Development of Cooperation among the Commonwealth Member-States in the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy and on the Safety of Nuclear Installations.
The main tasks of the Commission are coordination of efforts of the CIS countries to implement the Agreement on the Basic Principles of Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy of June 26, 1992 and the Decision of the Council of Heads of Governments on the Prospective Plan for the Development of Cooperation among the CIS Member States in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, Increasing Safety of Nuclear Installations of January 17, 1997.
The Commission is includes the heads of the relevant government bodies responsible for work in the field of atomic energy in the CIS member-states, in an amount determined by each state. The Commission comprises from the Kyrgyz Republic State Secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov, Director of the Agency for Tailings Management under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Damir Kushbakov.
