Meeting of CIS Council of Border Troops’ Commanders to be held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 16, 2018. /Kabar/. The 80th anniversary meeting of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS countries is scheduled to take place in the city of Bishkek in November of this year, Chairman of the State Border Service (SBS) Ularbek Sharsheev told at a briefing in Bishkek.

He said that the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted within the first 9 months of 2018: the Unity-2018joint border operation within the framework of the SCO; the Barrier-2018 command-staff exercise with the support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek; the 6th meeting of the heads of the border services of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the SCO, in which the heads of the border agencies of India and Pakistan participated for the first time; the Meken Chegy-2018 joint special border operation in the framework of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS countries.

“All these activities are being carried out in order to create a security zone on the borders of our states, in connection with the intensification of the activities of international terrorist and religious extremist organizations both in the Central Asian region and in the world as a whole, and also taking into account the exacerbation of military political situation in Afghanistan,” Sharsheev said.
