Bishkek, Oct.11, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states.
The meeting participants exchanged views on current international and regional problems, discussed some aspects of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth and improvement of the efficiency of its bodies, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The main focus of the Council was on the agenda of the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be today, Oct. 11, 2019 in the capital of Turkmenistan.
The Action Programme on enhancing the partnership between the foreign ministries of the CIS member states has been adopted.
In a extended format, members of the Council approved the draft Regulations on the Games of the CIS countries, aimed at strengthening the traditionally established friendly relations between the peoples of the CIS member states. The members of the Council also considered a number of documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in ensuring security.
In particular, the sides approved the draft documents on cooperation in the field of information security, combating terrorism and illicit drug trafficking.
In his speech Kyrgyz FM Chingiz Aidarbekov voiced proposals for further improvement of cooperation mechanisms in the CIS Executive Committee, initiated by the Kyrgyz side.
He also held a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the CIS countries in Ashgabat.
The next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers is scheduled for Apr. 3, 2020 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
