Meeting of CIS Joint Commission for combating illegal migration held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Nov. 2, 2018. /Kabar/. The 21st meeting of the Joint Commission of the CIS Member States for combating illegal migration was held in Bishkek. The meeting was attended by the heads of the State Migration Service, the General Administration for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russian Federation, the CIS Executive Committee's department for security cooperation, as well as representatives of relevant institutions from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The meeting was opened by Olga Kirillova, Head of the General Administration for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, who is the chair of the Joint Commission. In her speech, she noted that one of the most important tasks of the migration policy of any state is ensuring national security, maximum security, comfort and well-being of the country's population.

"The state policy of the CIS member states in the field of migration is formed and implemented, including on the basis of the work of the Joint Commission, cooperation and close interaction of the countries parties to the Agreement in the fight against illegal migration," she said.

In turn, Chairman of the State Migration Service of the Kyrgyz Republic Bolot Saparbayev, welcoming the participants of the meeting, expressed confidence that the joint efforts will allow to raise to a higher level the activities on the effective management of migration processes in the CIS space.

“I am convinced that the conclusions and decisions of this meeting of the Joint Commission will have a practical orientation and contribute to increasing the effectiveness of our joint activities,” he said.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged information on the conclusion by the CIS member states of bilateral agreements on readmission and the practical implementation of existing readmission agreements.

Moreover, during the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the Program of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in combating illegal migration, countering illegal migration and other illegal activities related to it were discussed, as well as the implementation of the Regulation on the Common Database on Illegal Migrants.

In addition, the Joint Commission members shared their experience in introducing new passport and visa documents, improving technical and other protection of passports, entry visas, and other documents used for entering, staying and leaving the territories of the CIS member states, as well as creating favorable conditions for reciprocal trips of citizens.

During the meeting, the participants familiarized themselves with the activities of the Information and Consultation Center of the State Migration Service under the Kyrgyz Govenrment on the organized employment of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad.

As a result of the event, the Protocol of the meeting was signed, and the Work Plan of the Joint Commission of the States Parties to the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States in Combating Illegal Migration for 2019 was approved.
