Meeting of Council of FMs of Turkic Council held in Baku

Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2019 / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov took part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council), the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Speaking at the meeting Aidarbekov noted the main efforts of Kyrgyzstan during the chairmanship aimed at further strengthening the comprehensive constructive interaction between the member states of the Council based on the principles of equality, trust, mutual understanding and good neighborliness.

All heads of delegations expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side and noted a large number of important events held during the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Two important events took place in the Turkic Council during this period - the official entry of Uzbekistan into the Turkic Council as a full member of the Organization, as well as the opening of the Representation of the Turkic Council in Budapest, which will become the European branch of the Turkic Council. Member states of the Turkic Council welcomed the participation of Uzbekistan in this meeting as a full member of the Organization, as well as the participation of Hungary as an observer state in the Turkic Council.

The foreign ministers discussed issues of interaction within the framework of the Turkic Council, exchanged views on regional cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation of Turkic-speaking states, as well as prospects for the development of the Organization and other Turkic institutions.

Particular attention was paid to the preparation and agenda of the upcoming 7th Summit of the Turkic Council, which will be held on Oct. 15, 2019 in Baku on the theme “Development of small and medium-sized enterprises”.

Following the ministerial meeting, the foreign ministers signed a package of Agreements on the new Representation of the Turkic Council in Hungary, as well as the activities of other Turkic organizations.

The meeting of the Ministerial Council was also attended by the heads of Turkic organizations such as TurkPA, TURKSOY, the Turkic Academy and the Fund for Turkic Culture and Heritage.
