Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2021 . / Kabar / . Today, Nov. 5 Hungarian Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto has arrived in Kyrgyzstan.
During the visit, the Hungarian minister met with Ruslan Kazakbaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, Szijjarto will take part in the First European Union – Central Asia Economic Forum. As part of the event, an official opening of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund will be held, which will implement important investment projects for Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz and Hungarian ministers discussed many issues regarding cooperation between the countries, and memorandums were also signed. The issue of air travel between Bishkek and Budapest was raised. In addition, the issue of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund was touched upon.
"We discussed the opening of direct flights between Budapest and Bishkek, which is very important for our country. We also debated the issue in the consular sphere. Embassies started issuing Schengen visas in Bishkek, which greatly simplifies the situation. Peter Szijjarto said visas will be issued to six EU countries and the list will be expanded. The main thing is that we have reached the level of strategic partnership," Kazakbaev noted.
Minister Peter Szijjarto noted that Europe has never before had such attention in the direction of Central Asia. This is due to two factors - economic and security.
"We appreciate the steps Kyrgyzstan has taken to protect its country, to ensure stability in the region. Our trade turnover has increased by 56%. Various aspects are already ending and next year Bishkek and Budapest will be connected by a direct flight. We pay great attention to education issues. We see great potential in relations with Kyrgyzstan and Central Asian countries,” the Hungarian minister added.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on April 16, 1992.
