Meeting of Kyrgyz, Swedish MPs in Bishkek

Bishkek, Jan.29, 2020. /Kabar/. Meeting of MPs of Kyrgyzstan and Sweden took place today, Jan. 29 in Bishkek.

Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for cooperation with Sweden, MP Akylbek Zhaparov, Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Mirlan Bakirov, MPs Zhyldyz Musabekova, Ainura Osmonova and Ermamat Tagayev met with the Swedish parliamentary delegation, headed by First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden Åsa Lindestam.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Sweden to Kyrgyzstan Christian Kamill, Member of the Riksdag Committee on Environment and Agriculture Hannah Vesteren, Member of the Riksdag Justice Committee Magdalena Schröder, Member of the Riksdag Security Committee Sven-Olof Sällström, Advisor of the Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs Martin Brozek, writer Lars Erik Blomqvist and Honorary Consul of Sweden in Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Mamyrov.

Deputy Speaker Mirlan Bakirov spoke about the activities of the Kyrgyz Parliament, detailing the work of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Environment and Regional Development.

He emphasized the country has a rich agricultural potential and expressed interest in sharing experience with the relevant committee of the Riksdag of Sweden, as well as attracting Swedish investments in the agricultural sector of the country.

First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag Åsa Lindestam thanked the members of the Jogorku Kenesh Friendship Group for the warm reception, and expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation, noting that Riksdag is ready to share with the Jogorku Kenesh more than 100 years of experience in building parliamentary democracy and 200 years of experience in peace and good neighbourhood.

In general, the sides stressed the mutual commitment to expanding cooperation between the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Sweden, further strengthening of friendly relations between the countries.

The Swedish delegation has already met with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Speaker of the Parliament Dastanbek Dzhumabekov.
