Bishkek, Sept. 2, 2020. /Kabar/. Yesterday, Sept. 1 President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a regular narrow format meeting of the country’s Security Council, his press service reported Tuesday.
The meeting with participation of heads of state bodies, governors, mayors of the Bishkek and Osh cities discussed the issue of measures on preparation and holding parliamentary elections on Oct. 4, 2020.
President Jeenbekov noted that holding fair elections is the main condition for further development of Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized the necessity of prompt response from power structures to reports about violations of election legislation by some political parties and candidates for deputies of parliament.
The Kyrgyz leader once again called on political parties and their supporters to refrain from illegal actions during the election campaign, reminding that such actions will receive their assessment within the law.
In addition, he appealed to voters not to sell their votes, stressing that the fate of parliament depends on their will and reasonable choice.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov concluded that parliamentary elections should be as democratic, open and transparent as possible and no one should doubt the results.
At the meeting of the Security Council, Chairwoman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendum Nurzhan Shaildabekova and Prime Minister of the country Kubatbek Boronov presented information about the preparatory work for parliamentary elections amid coronavirus pandemic.
Interior Minister Kashkar Dzhunushaliyev reported about measures to ensure public security in the pre- and post-election periods.
Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov also made a report on the issue discussed.
As a result of the Security Council’s meeting, a number of decisions has been taken.
