Bishkek, Sept. 6, 2022. / Kabar /. A meeting of women deputies on gender issues was held in Bishkek, the Academy of Local Government of Central Asia reported.

According to the information, the day before, during the event, the participants reviewed the code of ethics of deputies of local keneshes, discussed the powers, functions and gender issues in their activities.

The meeting participants were women deputies of local councils of Talas, Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.

“In our country, I observe a tendency when stereotypes take over in our society, which brings to naught all the efforts of our government aimed at strengthening the activity of women deputies in the government system, both at the state and local levels. Why is this happening? How can you influence the situation in order to rectify it? At the Club of Women-Deputies, we work exclusively with women who have become deputies of local councils throughout the republic. At the same time, we discuss and analyze the topic of gender equality along with the issue of promoting the rights and interests of women, who in any case remain in the minority in the decision-making process,” the message says.

The academy noted that all efforts of the Club of Women Deputies of Local Councils will be aimed at increasing the level of professional knowledge of deputies, including knowledge of inclusive planning, budgeting and management, development of personal skills (soft skills).
