Men in Kyrgyzstan earn more than women – statistics

Bishkek, Jan. 20, 2021. /Kabar/. In 2019, the employment rate among men was 72% higher than that of women (43 %), the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s National Statistics

The excess employment rate for men over the employment rate for women was observed in all age groups, but the most significant was in the 20-34 age groups.

At this age, most women often leave their jobs due to childbirth. But already in the age group of 40-54 years there is a convergence in the employment rate of men and women.

Women's employment is highest in the services sector, where their share in the total number of employees prevailed in such activities as real estate operations (94%), health care and social services (81%), and education (79%).

There are more men in the industrial sector: construction (98%), mining (97%), transportation and cargo storage (96%), and the provision (supply) of electricity, gas and steam (85%).

Women devote an average of about 4 hours and 30 minutes to housework, spending about 19% of their daily time. For men, it is 6.5% and amounts to just over one hour.

Women devote more than two hours a week to children. For men, this time is about an hour.

Female-headed households have lower poverty rates than male-headed ones.
