The military of Russia and Kyrgyzstan will discuss issues of regional security in Central Asia, sum up the joint activities in 2018 and discuss plans for 2019, head of the press service of the Central Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Shorin told Wednesday, Federal News Agency (FAN) reported.
He said that the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Colonel General Alexander Lapin, Commander of the Central Military District, had already arrived in Kyrgyzstan. There, the Russian military will meet the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan.
“They will discuss topical issues of regional security in Central Asia, as well as sum up the results of joint combat training activities in 2018 and implementation of plans for 2019,” Shorin said.
In addition, the visit of Lapin includes an inspection of the Russian Kant air base in the suburb of Bishkek. In particular, the Colonel General will hear a report on the state and completeness of the base and check it for protection from terrorist threat.
The Russian Kant air base in Kyrgyzstan is part of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force and ensures the security of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Earlier, it was reported that in the framework of the exercises, military personnel of the Central Military District had liquidated a conventional enemy in the foothills of the Western Sayan.
