Bishkek, Jan. 10, 2019. /Kabar/. Starting this year, a military traffic control unit will be formed and will start working at the military airfield of Russia in Kant, the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
These measures will be implemented in accordance with the decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the formation of military traffic police at Russian bases abroad. So, last year, traffic control units were created in Tajikistan and Armenia, as well as the 51st military traffic control unit in the Northern Fleet.
Head of the Military Automobile Inspectorate of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel Sergei Postnikov informed that by the end of 2019, full-time military traffic control units would be formed as part of Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Kyrgyzstan and South Ossetia. At present, the Military Automobile Inspectorate officials are serving in these military formations for temporary staffing.
The Military Automobile Inspectorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is a structural unit of the Main Directorate of Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
The main tasks of the military traffic control unit are:
- ensuring road safety in the Armed Forces;
- control over the observance by military personnel and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces of legislative and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation on road safety in military units, during operation of vehicles of military units on public roads;
- ensuring the movement of troops (forces) on public roads and column routes, organizing road patrol service of military traffic control units on the routes of vehicles of military units;
- registration of vehicles of military units;
- conducting technical inspection of vehicles of military units, as well as ensuring the admission of drivers and vehicles of military units to participate in road traffic.
