Bishkek, Dec. 20, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Economy Minister Oleg Pankratov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Yoshihiro Yamamura.
During the meeting, Pankratov noted that today Japan is one of the leading countries that provide assistance to Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported.
The Minister thanked the representatives of the Government of Japan for the successful implementation of projects through the Ministry of Economy, in particular, the One Village One Product project, a project to control the quality and safety of milk and dairy products in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as strengthening the capacity to develop PPP projects, and agreed to continue work in this direction. He also stressed that the potential for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Japan is not used to the fullest. “But we hope that in the near future there will be positive changes in this direction,” Pankratov said.
During the meeting, an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion on profit and capital, and an agreement on the promotion and protection of investments between the governments of Japan and Kyrgyzstan were also discussed.
In turn, Yamamura informed about the plans for further territorial expansion of the One Village One Product project, and thanked for the opportunity to meet and discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
He also noted that there is little Japanese business in Kyrgyzstan. The Minister of Economy agreed with that. The sides agreed that it is necessary to expand their presence in Kyrgyzstan.
At the meeting, the possibility of opening a car assembly plant in Kyrgyzstan was also discussed. The sides outlined ways of development in this direction.
At the end of the negotiations, the sides expressed confidence that the Kyrgyz-Japanese relations would receive further progressive and fruitful development.
