Bishkek, Feb. 6, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev met with a mission of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by IFC Regional Manager for PPP Projects Michael Opaghi.
During the meeting, prospects for cooperation with the International Finance Corporation on the implementation of projects significant for the country were discussed.
Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic informed that today effective mechanisms for working with international development partners and investors are being created, because it is important to stimulate the development of the private sector.
In addition, the minister spoke about the tasks and measures taken by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to create a favorable investment climate, implement projects for the development of the financial sector and renewable energy sources. The development of hydropower, the transport and logistics sector, the agro-industrial complex, mining and tourism has been identified as one of the priority sectors of the economy.
According to Amangeldiev, in order to improve work with investors, as well as to strengthen economic cooperation between countries, Development Funds are being created.
Considering IFC’s extensive experience in supporting investment projects, assisting in the development of the private sector and the financial market, the minister expressed high interest in deepening cooperation, proposing to consider the possibility of supporting priority projects.
Also, Amangeldiev noted the importance of strengthening joint work on the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources, emphasizing the readiness to work on projects for the construction of solar and hydroelectric power plants, as well as projects in the field of geothermal energy within the framework of public-private partnerships (PPP).
At the same time, he spoke about the importance of implementing projects to support SMEs and providing affordable preferential financing using the national currency.
Representatives of the IFC mission emphasized that they are ready to work together and expressed support for the efforts of the Kyrgyz side in the implementation of priority promising projects.
Amangeldiev noted the importance of supporting development partners in the implementation of priority goals, expressing hope for further fruitful interaction on the implementation of specific projects.
