Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2018 / Kabar /. Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan, Artem Novikov met with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kyrgyzstan, Monica Iversen, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
"We already have experience in holding the Day of Germany in Kyrgyzstan and would like to propose holding a German Day in our country in Bishkek this year too, where entrepreneurs from both countries would take part to actively cooperate further," the Minister said at the meeting.
Novikov specified that the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy sets a high value on further strengthening and expansion of cooperation with Germany in such areas as trade, investment, business, agriculture, etc.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current status of bilateral cooperation, the opportunities for their expansion and realization, as well as issues of providing comprehensive assistance in implementing the agreements reached during the recent regular Kyrgyz-German Intergovernmental Negotiations on Financial and Technical Cooperation that took place on July 3-4, 2017 in Bonn.
One of the successfully completed tasks in recent years, the sides stressed holding of the Second Day of German Economy in Kyrgyzstan in 2017, which was organized during the visit of the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel.
Simultaneously, during the meeting key issues on the volume of goods turnover and the receipt of German investments were discussed. In order to improve these indicators, the sides discussed the possibility of using the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) received by Kyrgyzstan as a trading tool for development.
Novikov expressed gratitude to the Federal Republic of Germany for constant and tangible support to the government of Kyrgyzstan in the framework of financial and technical assistance and thus agreed to make efforts to accelerate the resolution of issues related to signing of the Agreements on Financial and Technical Cooperation for 2017-2018.
As a result, Iversen expressed gratitude to Novikov for the opportunity to meet and hope for further fruitful cooperation.
In March 2017, in Bishkek the event German Economy Day in the Kyrgyz Republic was held under the authority of Heads of two countries and under the agreements made between the Ex President of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Atambayev and the Chancellor of Germany A. Merkel following the meetings in Bishkek in July 2016 and in Munich in February 2017.
The aim of the event was to support the dialogue between German and Kyrgyz entrepreneurs, as well as state agencies and institutions. The second day of the German Economy Day was devoted to such topics as Food and Agriculture, Energy and Innovation.
