Bishkek, July 19, 2022. /Kabar/. Minister of Nature of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kutmanova announced a list of cities with the dirtiest air.
She noted that air pollution is one of the main health risk factors related to the environment.
"The noticeable deterioration of the state of atmospheric air in large cities of the republic as a consequence of the outdated air quality management system requires the adoption of consolidated measures. To date, both independently and jointly with development partners, several studies on sources of air pollution in Bishkek have been conducted, but the results of these studies differ significantly, which indicates the difference in methodological approaches and puts into great question the integrity of the picture,” Kutmanova said.
Thus, the most polluted cities, as in previous years, are the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Kara-Balta and Tokmok.
"The main pollutants of air basin of these cities are nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, dust and its fine fractions. However, the last five of these harmful impurities are determined only in Bishkek,” the minister added.
