Bishkek, May 4, 2022. / Kabar /. On May 3, 2022, the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, to Kyrgyzstan took place, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
During the visit, he met with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev.
During the visit, the 2nd meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Strategic Council was held on issues of bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
During the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev congratulated Peter Szijjarto on the victory of the ruling FIDES party in the parliamentary elections in Hungary on April 3, 2022.
Kulubaev also thanked Peter Szijjarto for the prompt resolution of the issue of providing a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from Ukraine, given the current situation in this country.
The sides especially noted that April 16, 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Hungary. During this period of time, a fruitful path of cooperation was passed and relations between the countries reached the level of strategic partnership.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting of the Strategic Council, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation. In particular, issues of organizing mutual high-level visits in 2022 and further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties were discussed.
The sides agreed to open a direct flight on the route Budapest-Bishkek-Budapest by the Hungarian airline WizzAir in the very near future. The launch of direct flights Budapest-Bishkek-Budapest is very important for Kyrgyzstan in terms of further development of investment and tourism potential.
The work of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the implementation of projects within the framework of the Fund were discussed, an agreement was reached to gradually increase the authorized capital of the Fund to 50 million US dollars as investment projects are successfully implemented.
The ministers discussed joint work within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, noted the importance of implementing the agreements following the 2nd meeting of the Commission, which was held on November 16, 2021 in Budapest. Issues of activity of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Council were discussed. The Hungarian side was invited to hold a regular meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Council in Bishkek this year.
Also, during the meeting of the Strategic Council, issues of further cooperation in the field of education were considered. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Kulubaev expressed gratitude to Peter Szijjarto for increasing the quota for the education of Kyrgyz students in higher educational institutions in Hungary to 200 places annually under the Stipendium Hungaricum program.
Kulubaev also invited Szijjarto to hold the First Kyrgyz-Hungarian Rector's Conference in Kyrgyzstan this year, and confirmed his readiness to receive the Secretary of State for Stipendium Hungaricum and the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Orshol Pachai-Tomassic, with a visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary were discussed at the meeting. In particular, the sides discussed holding the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Hungary and Hungary in Kyrgyzstan.
A separate topic of discussion was cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as in the Visegrad Group-Central Asia format.
As a result of the negotiations, the following documents were signed:
1. Roadmap for bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary for 2022-2025.
2. Memorandum between the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary on cooperation in the field of culture.
