Minister Omuraliyev takes part in meeting of SCO Council of Defense Ministers in Dushanbe

Bishkek, July 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan’s Defense Minister Taalaibek Omuraliyev participated on Wednesday in a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Defense ministers of SCO member states - India, Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan also participated in the event, the press service of the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry said.

In the course of the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional security and further strengthening of defense and security cooperation.

Heads of defense ministries noted the high level of mutual understanding among member states of the Organization amid increasing conflict potential in the world, the pandemic of a novel coronavirus infection and the continuing level of terrorist threats.

Marking the Organization's 20th anniversary this year, the meeting participants stressed that the SCO has evolved into one of the most influential new-style international organizations, a unique structure for which consolidation of stability and security in the SCO region remains a priority.

The event concluded with a signing of a number of documents, including the Plan of Cooperation of SCO Member State Defense Agencies for 2022-2023.
