Ministerial meeting of Turkic Council takes place in Bishkek

Bishkek, Sep. 02, 2018. /kabar/. The ministerial meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) took place under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Abdyldaev in Bishkek.

For the first time, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó took part in the meeting of Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States as an honorable guest, the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

During the meeting the sides discussed and agreed on the draft documents, which will be considered at the 6th Summit of Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States in Cholpon-Ata on September 3 of this year.

Abdyldaev, in his address, placed emphasis on priorities of Kyrgyzstan’s presidency in the Turkic Council, particularly stressed the need for increasing the effectiveness of Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States activity, further developing the cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries in trade-economic and culture-humanitarian spheres, as well as carrying out reforms in Turkic organizations.

The heads of delegations expressed their appreciation to Kyrgyzstan for presenting and promoting the ancient culture and traditions of Turkic peoples to the whole world through the World Nomad Games.

At the end of the Ministerial meeting heads of foreign ministries signed a package of additional agreements on organizing the activities of the Turkic Academy and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. In addition, a decision was made on granting Hungary the observer status in the Turkic Academy.

The members of Turkic Council are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey.
