Ministry of Education and USAID Start Distribution of 264,000 Books to Kyrgyz Schools

Bishkek, Feb. 27 / Kabar /. On February 28, the U.S. Government, through USAID, will deliver over 600 Kyrgyz language books to five primary schools in Alamedin district, Chui oblast. These schools will be the first of 2,150 schools across Kyrgyzstan to will receive the books. Overall, USAID will deliver over 264,000 books to schools in the Kyrgyz Republic. The official handover ceremony will take place at K. Tabaldiev school in Kara-Jygach settlement. The Deputy Minister of Education SalidinKaldybaev and USAID/Kyrgyz Republic Mission Director Kimberly Rosen will participate in the ceremony.

Each participating primary school will receive a set of 123 Kyrgyz language books that feature tales, stories, riddles, and poetry and are tailored to the needs of early readers. USAID’s Reading Together project works in 60% of public primary schools across
