Ministry of Energy plans to build three HPPs and thermal station together with Chinese company

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2024 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Energy plans to build three hydro power plants and one thermal station together with the Chinese company China National Electric Engineering Co.Ltd (CNEEC), the press service of the ministry said.

The sides yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on the projects of the Suusamyr-Kokomerensky cascade of hydroelectric power stations and the Kara-Kechin thermal station.

The ministry clarified that the Suusamyr-Kokomerensky hydro power station cascade consists of three hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 1305 MW:

1. Karakol hydro power plant – 33 MW;

2. Kokomerenskaya HPP-1 – 360 MW;

3. Kokomerenskaya HPP-2 – 912 MW, and with an approximate annual output of 3.3 billion kilowatt-hours.

The Kara-Kechin thermal station with a capacity of 600 MW will be located in the Jumgal district of the Naryn region.

The memorandum was signed by Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev and Vice President of CNEEC Jing Hui.

It is noted that the company China National Electric Engineering Co.Ltd. (CNEEC) has extensive experience in the construction of hydro, solar and wind power plants.
