Bishkek, Feb. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. The average annual number of the resident population of Kyrgyzstan as of January 1, 2018, according to preliminary data, was 6 million 193,4 thousand people (2016 - 6 million 079,8 thousand, an increase of 113,6 thousand people), the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.
As a result of 2017, according to preliminary data, there was a slight decrease in the birth rate, which was 24.7% per 1000 population (2016 - 26.0 ‰).
In the age structure of the population, children (0-14 years) make 31.8%, for working-age persons - 59.3% and for persons older than working age - 7.1%.
The overall mortality rate was 5.3 per 1000 population (2016 - 5.5, decrease by 3.6%).
The main causes of death of the population in the republic are diseases of the circulatory system - 51.9% (2016 - 50.8%), neoplasms -11.6% (2016 -11.7%), external causes of death - 8.6% ( 2016-8.3%), diseases of the digestive system - 6.3% (2016-6.4%), respiratory - 5.6% (2016 - 6.0).
It should be noted that the major share of external causes are road accidents, which is the main cause of the death rate from injuries.
