Bishkek, June 16, 2020 / Kabar /. On June 16, 2020, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic received 8 mechanical ventilation devices and 6,550 PCR tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19 under the Project “Effective Control of HIV and Tuberculosis in the Kyrgyz Republic”, supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and implemented by UNDP from July 2018 to December 2020.
These vital medical equipment and diagnostic tests worth USD 266,438 will be distributed in the regions of the country to increase the country's preparedness for the COVID-19 epidemic, the Health Ministry said.
These devices will be used to assist patients with respiratory distress.
Previously, UNDP allocated 50,000 surgical masks and 2,000 FFP2 respirators to healthcare professionals in contact with COVID-19 as part of a Global Fund project.
