Bishkek, Dec. 15, 2020 / Kabar /. The Ministry of Health, together with the Central Election Commission, has developed an algorithm for holding safe presidential elections, Deputy Minister of Health Nurbolot Usenbaev told at a briefing.

He said that mass events in connection with the elections are inevitable and it is necessary to prevent cases of infection.

“I remind once again that when the October events happened, a lot of people gathered at the same time, there were violations of the mask regime, there were no antiseptics, respectively, at the end of October we already had a complication of the epidemiological situation. Therefore, in order to avoid such moments, the Ministry of Health, together with the Central Election Commission, has developed an algorithm, requirements for implementation by all state bodies, local self governments, election commissions to organize the process of working with lists on election day,” Usenbaev said.

Early presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held on Jan. 10 due to the fact that the previous President Sooronbai Jeenbekov resigned amid protests against the results of the parliamentary elections, which took place on Oct. 4.

Kyrgyzstan will also conduct on Jan. 10 a referendum to determine the form of government of the country. Voters need to vote for either the presidential or parliamentary system of governance or against all the options.
