Mobile photo exhibition about "hidden hunger" opened in Kyrgyz Parliament building

Bishkek, Apr. 5, 2018 / Kabar /. A mobile photo exhibition about "hidden hunger" was opened in the building of the Kyrgyz Parliament, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.

In Nov. 2017, the Citizens' Alliance for Improving Nutrition and Food Security with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund in Kyrgyzstan (UNICEF) and member of the Kyrgyz Parliament Osmonbek Artykbayev launched a photo contest "Kyrgyzstan Free of Anemia".

On the results, the mobile photo exhibition of the same name was officially opened. The goal was to collect conceptual photographs of professional, as well as amateur photographers, on the anemia problem.

Further the photos will be exhibited in building of state agencies within two months to draw the attention of decision-makers to the problem of anemia, unbalanced nutrition and their consequences.

The opening of the exhibition will be followed by a round table where specialists from different sectors will discuss what is being done to eradicate the hidden hunger.

In Kyrgyzstan, women and children are most at risk of developing anemia, 35% of women of childbearing age and 43% of children under age 5 suffer from anemia.
