Monument to Chyngyz Aitmatov unveiled in Baku

Bishkek, April 25, 2024 / Kabar/. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev unveiled a monument to Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov in Baku, the Information Policy Service of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic said.

Aliyev noted that the monument to Chyngyz Aitmatov is a symbol of friendship, brotherhood and unity between the peoples of the two countries. He emphasized Aitmatov's contribution to literature and national identity, which allowed his work to be respected in Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.

Aliyev recalled his meeting with the writer and expressed respect for his civic position and devotion to his roots. He expressed gratitude for Aitmatov’s contribution to strengthening friendship between the two countries and congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan on the opening of the monument.

In his speech, Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for his reverent attitude towards the legacy of Chyngyz Aitmatov and for his personal contribution to the organization of anniversary events dedicated to the outstanding writer.

The Kyrgyz president emphasized the importance of cultural ties between the two countries and the great role of Chyngyz Aitmatov in strengthening friendship between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.

The head of state also noted that the erection of a monument to the Kyrgyz writer in Baku symbolizes the deep ties between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan and represents an important step in preserving the historical heritage and strengthening friendly relations between the countries. Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that knowledge and understanding of the history of relationships by the younger generation plays a key role in shaping the future.

Sadyr Zhaparov expressed wishes for peace, happiness and prosperity to the brotherly Azerbaijani people.

The monument was erected in a park on one of the central streets of Baku - Azadlyk.
