Monument to Kazakh poet and writer Abai Kunanbai uulu unveiled in Bishkek

Bishkek, May 26, 2022. / Kabar /. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev jointly opened in Bishkek a monument to the poet, writer and founder of modern Kazakh written literature Abai Kunanbai uulu.

In his speech, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the opening of the monument to the great thinker is symbolic. “This event takes place in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is of great importance for the two countries, two fraternal peoples.

The erection of this monument on the Kyrgyz land indicates that not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Kyrgyzstan, the great path, creativity and eloquence of Abai Kunanbai uulu are treated with special respect.

Since ancient times, fraternal and friendly ties between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have been inseparable and could not be otherwise, because there are no other peoples in the world so closely connected by their worldview, rich culture, spirit, history and the interweaving of human destinies.

I am sure that the Kyrgyz and Kazakh peoples will always be a support for each other, reliable allies at all turns of history, which will continue to maintain fraternal relations, Zhaparov said.

In turn, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the opening of the monument to Abai Kunanbai uulu in Bishkek is a sign of special respect of the Kyrgyz people for the Kazakh people.

He expressed gratitude to President Sadyr Zhaparov for his support in the erection of the monument, adding that this step would strengthen the brotherhood of the two peoples.

The President of Kazakhstan quoted the words of the poet, who wrote that "no one can dispute the common origin of the Kyrgyzs and Kazakhs."

He stressed, in the near future, a monument to Manas the Magnanimous will be erected in Kazakhstan as a sign of solidarity.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that the brotherhood and friendship between the two peoples will never be violated.
