Bishkek, April 19, 2024. / Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part today in Astana in the opening ceremony of the monument to Manas the Magnanimous.
The presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan jointly arrived at the park on Kabanbay Batyr Street, where a yurt town was erected next to the monument to Manas the Magnanimous.
The monument was erected on one of the central streets of the capital of Kazakhstan. The height of the monument is 10 meters, the pedestal is made of granite, and the sculpture is made of bronze. The winner of the competition for the best sketch of the monument was the sculptor Urustombek Pazylov, the architect of the project is the Honored Cultural Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulan Beishenbaev.
After the grand opening of the monument, the presidents delivered welcoming speeches.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the opening of the monument to Manas the Magnanimous is significant for the peoples of the two countries and indicates deep respect for the Kazakh people. He also noted that two years ago a monument to the Kazakh poet Abai was erected in Bishkek, who noted that the Kazakhs and Kyrgyzs have common roots. “Such initiatives further strengthen friendship between fraternal peoples who have a common centuries-old history,” he said.
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, in turn, noted that this day is special for the Kyrgyz people. The head of state emphasized the importance of recognizing the contribution of the people of Kazakhstan to the preservation and study of the Manas epic, called the steppe “Iliad” by the Kazakh scientist Chokan Valikhanov, and expressed confidence in the advent of a new era in relations between the two countries.
In conclusion, President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and everyone who contributed to this important project.
