Moody’s analysts arrive in Kyrgyzstan to assess credit rating

Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2018. / Kabar /. Analysts of Moody’s Investors Service Agency have arrived in Kyrgyzstan for the annual assessment of the rating of the republic. During the visit, they will hold meetings with ministries and departments of the country, as well as with international financial institutions and representative offices of foreign countries in Kyrgyzstan.

Today, a meeting was held with Deputy Minister of Economy Eldar Abakirov, where he thanked the analysts for the work done, informed about the political situation, changes in the socio-economic situation and the reforms in the country.

Abakirov noted that in the spring of this year, a new government was approved with a new program “Unity. Trust. Creation”. In this program, priority will be given to regional development, agriculture, the reform of the energy system, social development and the introduction of advanced digital technologies in the work of state bodies of the country.

It was also noted that since the beginning of 2018, the economy of Kyrgyzstan continues to show positive dynamics of economic growth.

The rating agency employees were provided with information on the main macroeconomic indicators, structural reforms in the issues of privatization and state property management, data on trade and economic relations for the first 9 months of 2018.

In addition, the ministry informed about the reforms undertaken to improve the country's investment climate and steps to improve the position of Kyrgyzstan in the Doing Business rating in 2018. According to the latest Doing Business rating report, the Kyrgyz Republic improved its position by 7 points (from 77 to 70), including the “Resolution of Insolvency” criterion by 37 positions, rising from 119 to 82.

Abakirov expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation and for objective observation of the country's rating by Moody’s.

In March 2015, the Ministry of Economy signed an agreement with Moody’s rating agency.
