Bishkek, Dec. 18, 2023. / Kabar/. From January to November this year, more than 1.6 million tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Uzbekistan, head of the tourism committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, Zhamshid Gaziev, told in an interview to Kabar Agency.

He said that thanks to the wise policies of the presidents of the two countries, favorable conditions have now been created for the comprehensive and large-scale development of cooperation in all areas, including tourism.

“We cooperate with Kyrgyz colleagues in many areas of tourism. Among them are the organization of combined tourist routes for foreigners throughout Central Asia. For citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, such types of tourism as pilgrimage, medical, gastronomic, ecotourism, shopping tourism and others are becoming increasingly popular every year.

The introduction of the rule for crossing the state border using ID cards has significantly simplified and accelerated the mutual visits of citizens of two neighboring countries. We have very large potential opportunities and promising joint projects,” he said.

The average annual increase in tourists to Uzbekistan after the coronavirus pandemic amounted to more than 20%. In January-November of this year, 6 million 134 thousand foreigners arrived in the country. This number is projected to reach 7 million by the end of the year.

In 2022, more than 5.2 million tourists visited Uzbekistan, of which 1.35 million were from Kyrgyzstan.
