Bishkek, Mar.16, 2020 /Kabar/. Over the past four years, 14 thousand ethnic Kyrgyz have obtained citizenship of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the State Registration Service reported.
17 thousand 512 applications for Kyrgyz citizenship were registered between 2016 and 2019.
The overwhelming majority, that is, 80%, are ethnic Kyrgyz – 14 thousand.
At the same time, 8 thousand 816 people withdrew from Kyrgyz citizenship during this period.
In the past four years, 6 thousand 791 ethnic Kyrgyz have come from Uzbekistan, and a total of 8 thousand 473 citizens of that country have been received.
7 thousand 124 Tajik citizens have also obtained Kyrgyz citizenship, of whom 6 thousand 480 are ethnic Kyrgyz.
A total of 137 ethnic Kyrgyz from China have returned to their historical homeland, and 181 citizens have been registered.
Within the Year of Regional Development, Digitalization of the Country and Support for Children, the return of ethnic Kyrgyz to their historical homeland is one of the Government's priorities.
The Citizenship automated information system, developed by the Infokom State Enterprise under the State Registration Service keeps a record of a granting and withdrawal from Kyrgyz citizenship.
"The decree on granting citizenship is signed by Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov", the report says.
On Mar.3 President Jeenbekov signed 5 Decrees on granting and on withdrawal from the citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Of these, there are 3 Decrees of the Kyrgyz President on granting citizenship to 1 thousand 776 people (1 thousand 446 adults and 330 children), most of whom are ethnic Kyrgyz who have returned to their historic homeland.
Another 2 Decrees on the withdrawal from citizenship to 964 people (747 adults and 217 children).
A total of 2 thousand 740 people (2 thousand 793 adults and 547 children) have applied.
