Bishkek, Oct. 19, 2021 / Kabar /. 34 thousand 75 people with alcohol addiction are officially registered in Kyrgyzstan, 88% of which are men and 12% are women.
The press service of the country’s Health Ministry said that on Oct. 19, doctors of the Republican Center for Narcology held the first seminar within the framework of the Anti-Alcohol Program project, developed with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO), for doctors of the Kemin Center of General Medical Practice.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the plan for the implementation of the anti-alcohol campaign and shared practical skills in identifying people with alcohol dependence. It was also noted that the problems of alcohol addiction have faded into the background and do not receive due attention.
According to the WHO, every 6th man in the world dies from diseases caused by unhealthy alcohol use.
