More than 50 cells of terrorist organizations were suppressed in 2017 - RATS SCO

A number of terrorist attacks were prevented in the early stages and the activities of more than 50 cells of terrorist organizations were stopped in 2017, Evgeny Sysoyev, Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) of SCO told at the international conference “Combating Terrorism - Cooperation without Borders” in Tashkent.

According to his data, over 150 members of international terrorist organizations that were in the interstate wanted list were also detained.

“Access to 80 thousand resources containing more than 500 thousand prohibited materials is limited as part of countering the use of the Internet for terrorist, extremist purposes,” Sysoyev said.

In addition, the activities of 360 participants in terrorist, extremist and religious Internet communities were suppressed. Criminal cases were initiated with respect to the administrators and moderators of websites.
