Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Zhalolidin Nurbaev made a report during the Second Meeting of Heads of Parliaments of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament said.
During the session “Cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea on climate change mitigation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, the Kyrgyz MP dwelt on the work carried out in Kyrgyzstan to achieve the SDGs.
“Kyrgyzstan has adopted the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for the period from 2023 to 2027, a two-year joint work plan and established a special council. According to the UN report, Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, ranking 45th out of 166 states,” the deputy reminded.
Zhalolidin Nurbaev also spoke about the measures taken in the areas of environmental protection and climate change, initiatives of Kyrgyzstan aimed at supporting mountainous regions.
“I note that the current policy of the Kyrgyz Republic is fully in line with the global development agenda, including international principles of combating climate change and environmental protection. The consequences of climate change affect every country. With joint efforts we will be able to confront the problems of climate change,” the Kyrgyz MP stressed.
