MP Kanat Isayev sentenced to 12 years with confiscation of property

Bishkek, Jan. 5, 2018 / Kabar/. Member of Kyrgyz Parliament, ex-mayor of Tokmok city Kanatbek Isayev is sentenced to 12 years in colony with confiscation of property, the office of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek told Kabar Agency.

The decree of the interim government dated April 26, 2010 was applied in regard to Isayev and the term of punishment was reduced by one quarter. Thus, the deputy will spend 9 years in jail.

Deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdyjapar Bekmatov told Kabar Agency that the issue on the withdrawal of the mandate of deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh will be considered after the final verdict, when the decision will be made by the last instance.

MP Isayev is accused of illegally transferring a land plot from municipal property to a private, illegal sale of the buildings of a city library and a dormitory to an individual at a low price and illegally transferring contract work on the construction of the bus station at the expense of the city budget to a private company when he was the mayor of Tokmok.
