MP Tekebayev’s supporters hold protest meeting in the center of Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb. 27 / Kabar /. About 250-300 people, supporters of member of the Kyrgyz Parliament Omurbek Tekebayev, had gathered today to protest meeting in the center of Bishkek, the Bishkek police department reports.

Besides, about 100 police officers keep order on the site and do not allow to provoke the situation.

The Bishkek police also reports that the rally organizers did not send any notification.

It is also reported that a protest meeting is also held in Bazar-Korgon region of Jalal-Abad oblast.

Supporters of the leader of Ata Meken party Omurbek Tekebayev demand the release of their leader. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan initiated a criminal case on Feb. 26 against Tekebayev accusing him of corruption and fraud. He was detained on Feb. 27 early morning at Manas airport upon arrival from Istanbul.
