MPs discuss government information on implementation of Safe City project

Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliamnt) are discussing the information provided by the government on the progress of the implementation of the Safe City project.

The meeting is held in the form of "question-answer" with the participation of representatives of relevant state bodies headed by First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov presented information on the progress of the implementation of the Safe City project at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on November 28.

So, according to his data, the cost of implementing this project was set at 2 billion 550 million soms. A tender was held on September 4, 2018, following which the Russian company, ega Radio Engineering Corporation, became the winner. This company intends to implement the Safe City project for the amount of 2 billion 320 million soms (less by 230 million soms) and paid a guarantee fee in the amount of 3.5 million soms.

During the implementation of phase 1 of this project, it is planned to install a photo-video system in 38 streets of Bishkek, as well as in all major highways of the republic. According to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, by January 1, 2019 the corresponding photo-video equipment will be installed.

The attempt to implement the Safe City project has been made for 7 years. Last year, 4,469 traffic accidents occurred in the republic. As a result of the accidents, 612 people died, including 77 children.
