MPs discuss issues of sustainable dev't of rural areas as part of IPA CIS regular meeting

Bishkek, Nov.22, 2019. /Kabar/. Round table on “Sustainable Development of Rural Areas” was held as part of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh said.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the issues of sustainable development of rural areas, legislative aspects of this issue, as well as to exchange information and experiences of implementing successful strategies and programs for rural development.

During the round table, deputies of the national parliaments of IPA CIS member states, as well as representatives of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly told about the experience of their countries in the sphere of rural development.

The delegations presented reports on the implementation of various policy documents for the development of social infrastructure in rural areas, improvement of the system of providing services to rural residents, and identification of the reasons for the aspirations of rural youth to large cities.

MP of the Jogorku Kenesh Baktybek Turusbekov spoke about the activities of Kyrgyz government institutions to improve living standards in villages. In his speech, the parliamentarian touched on the issues of drinking water supply, road network development and construction of social facilities.

The deputy stressed in order to effectively solve the tasks set, there is need to fix the source of funding for each program document.

In addition, he noted that according to the Decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Year of Regional Development was declared in the country two years in a row, in which special attention is paid to ensuring the well-being of rural residents.
