Mudflows damage 229 houses in Kyrgyzstan’s Alai region

Bishkek, May 5, 2022 / Kabar /. The elimination of the consequences of mudflows is underway in Alai region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan said.

According to data of the ministry, at present, 229 houses have been flooded in Korul village council, including the basements of 41 residential buildings.

To date, 24 residential buildings and 1 store have been cleared.

Employees of the Korul village council, together with the civil protection service of Alai region, are establishing the number and identity of the victims.

A task force of 5 people from the Animal Welfare Service is looking for animals lost during the flood.

At the moment, 3 cows and 2 donkeys have been found and buried.

Also, 50 military personnel from military unit 92843 of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic were additionally involved, in total 72 military personnel are working to eliminate the consequences of the flood.
